So I’ve got some stuff to work out about the cockpit, and to do that I needed to temporarily bolt the seats in. I’m thinking about doing something different with the seatbelts, and also with the throttle quadrant, and maybe the panel design as well. I’m really trying to keep the cockpit less crowded, but also have a stylish visual appeal and some sort of ergonomic smoothness. Harrumph. I don’t like vernier controls, so I’m working out something with the throttle quadrant that hopefully will work a bit better than the stock Van’s throttle quadrant. Anyway, while the seats are in, we’ve been sticking people in there and snapping photos. yep. pretty cool. It’s kind of neat how people are starting to go “it looks like an airplane!”. cool.
We also decided that since there are fewer parts inside these days, we’d swap the “airplane room” in our house for one of the smaller bedrooms. It was a whole weekend of moving and re-organizing parts, and in order to to fit the horizontal stabilizer, we had to bust a hole in the wall through to the closet. Good times. Next, we’ll have to figure out how to fit the airplane in the garage once we put the engine on it. it’ll be tough. It barely fits in there as it is. We’ll either extend the front or the rear of the garage. More time, more effort, more money. We knew this would happen though. No worries.
