Ugh.  i’m a crappy painter.  i decided on a nice “hot rod” flat black for the forward fuse (dashboard areA) and went to great lengths to find paint that would be appropriate.  I got this stuff called “hot rod flatz” that seemed to be just the thing.  i also got all the prep stuff that goes with it - epoxy primer, primer sealer, cleaners - all sorts of stuff.  i cleaned, primed, and sealed with varying amounts of success, and then i was ready to shoot the paint.  my paint gun sucks, and i was really trying hard to lay down a nice couple of coats, and right up until the end, i was doing ok.  then, at the last second, somehow i kicked the air hose and it became disconnected.  i didn’t hear it pop off there, because i had hearing protection on.  so i held the gun over my nice spray job for one last spray, pulled the trigger, and paint dribbled in a huge pool right in the middle of the deck.  poo.  so i waited a couple days for it to dry and cure, and then had to wet sand the blob down to size.  one thing led to another, and i ended up wet sanding the whole thing a couple times, then i had to use polish to remove the scratches from the wet sanding.  after all that, the paint looks good, but is basically a MIRROR finish!!!  so much for my flat black.  oh well.  and it only took a week to do!  like i said... i’m a crappy crappy painter.
