well, we’re ready to hang the engine, but my buddy who has my engine hoist is out of town til sunday, so we spend today doing the couple little things on the engine that you’re supposed to do before you hang it. mostly fittings and senders. pretty basic, but i really don’t know that much about airplane engines. so i learn. more. i sat around with the lycoming manual and learned what holes are what, and what goes where. i boldly installed the rpm sensor for the af3500 in the wrong vent hole of the magneto, then discovered what i had done, and fixed it. installed the prop governor. i got the mt version, and it’s really a nice looking thing. other than that, not much to report. i did get back to the nose gear leg fairing, and pretty much dialed that in. boy, i really think that the nose gear leg fairing is pretty impossible to get perfectly straight. you’re locked in by the angle of the welded brackets on the gear leg, and i’m not so sure they’re straight. at least that’s my story. i think i can possibly get it to line up better with a shim or something. whatever. sometimes, all you can do is your best.
