So the new hardpoints are in there, and now we need to make the mounting pads for the aluminum thingies.  the interior of the cabin top is a bit curved, so we need to make a flat pad out of epoxy.  I started by covering the aluminum mounting pad with packing tape for easy release, and drilling a hole in the center through to the cabin top to pin the mounting pad.  I then pulled the mounting pad off, mixed up some epoxy with chopped fibers and cab-o-sil, slathered it on the spot, and pinned the mounting pad back to the cabin top.  i ran a scraper around the edge to get the excess off, then let it cure.  then i popped it off, and voila!  flat mounting pad.  meanwhile, here’s a look at some of the acrylic closeout panels for the overhead console.  i built them on my CNC mill, all reverse engraved and everything.  it’s for the backseat passengers.  it gives them air, and either a red or white LED for reading or whatever.  cool.  also, for the main closeout panel, i also made an acrylic panel that’s got the experimental reverse engraved.  pretty sweet, and it’ll double as the dome light cause i’ll back light it.  spacey!
